Membership Objectives

  • Promote Black nurses' interests and uphold the standards of the nursing profession. 

  • Conduct investigative studies or research and publish the results.

  • Identify health care needs and concerns of Black persons in the community.

  • Work to improve health care standards and assure the availability of adequate health care services within the local community.

  • Collaborate with other health care professionals and/ or special interest groups to sensitize them to health care needs in the Black community.

  • Promote the interest of Black persons to pursue careers in nursing.

  • Recruit, counsel and assist those persons in achieving their goals, thereby increasing the number of Black nurses in Wisconsin.

  • Investigate standards and guidelines for qualify education of Black nurses.

  • Foster a spirit of fellowship and understanding among nurses and other professional groups, thereby serving as network links.

  • Increase the visibility and accessibility of professional Black nurses to young Black persons.

  • Promote membership and active participant in other health care organizations.

  • Collaborate with other groups in order to develop and maintain historical records of achievements and activities of Black nurses.

  • Act as an agent to influence change in nursing legislation and health care policies.
